Manufacturing Jobs

If you are an experienced factory worker, your experience is in demand in Salt Lake City. The odds are in your favor of landing a job with one of the city's numerous manufacturers. Salt Lake City has manufacturers in almost every sector of the industry.

The city's largest industries and employers have historically been in the steel industry, specifically the mining and railroad sectors. Large area employers were typically Geneva Steel, various oil refineries, Silver King Mines and the Bingham Canyon Mine.

Today, one of the city's largest employers is the large hub for Delta Airlines at Salt Lake City International Airport. As such, there is a large sub-economy of manufacturers who support the airport and airline. There is always a demand for those who can work with an online brochure template or assemble prepared foods to support this large, local economy. Specialized tools and machinery, vehicles and devices are all needed by those servicing and operating the airport and its supporting businesses.

The city is also home to a number of major food and drink manufacturing companies such as Smith's Food and Drug and United Potato Growers of America. Whether you're manufacturing diapers or frozen dinners, you will find a number of opportunities to help make the goods that the entire country needs every day.

Be sure to consider the area's transportation manufacturing sector, too. Not only does it support Delta's fleet of airliners, factories in and around Salt Lake City also build anything from front auto plates for cars to rudders for sailboats. And, of course, a number of local manufacturers specialize in goods for the winter and snow. Skis, snowboards, outdoor apparel, snowmobiles and the like are all made locally.

There are a number of printing shops in the surrounding area with job openings. If you are familiar with making vinyl wall letters or outdoor billboards, you will find a number of opportunities. A number of High Tech companies, such as eBay, have a big presence in the suburbs of the city. Manufacturing opportunities with Micron, Unisys, L-3 Communications, Siebel and 3M are frequently being listed.

You will also find a handful of factories and shops building furniture and cabinetry for the home. If you would enjoy designing or building a modern bathroom vanity or reproduction dining-room table, consider some of the amazing companies in and around the city. From fine to functional furniture, you will find a number of interesting positions available in this field.
